I am sorry to tell you that this afternoon due to a shutdown of Hope’s kidneys and liver, she went to the Rainbow Bridge. When she went to her doctor on Tuesday with urination problems, he said that she looked yellow and gave us several homeopathic meds for her. He received the bloodtest results yesterday, and they confirmed what he suspectd. We were surprised that out of the clear, he diagnosed her with liver, kidney failure. We used the Eastern meds he gave us for two days, but there was no improvement. Her condition actually worsened during that time; she couldn’t move, wouldn’t eat or drink and appeared to be blind and possibly deaf. The toxins were taking over her body. I held her all night for the last two nights; she was non responsive. We wanted to let her go before she starting suffering. What a horrible decision to make. I kept praying for a miracle.
If is with great sadness that we must let everyone know that Hope is no longer here with us on earth; she is with her siblings and Tripawds friends at the Bridge, waiting for the rest of her family.
She was such a very special little girl who had fought bravely two years with fibrosarcoma, only to have her diseased leg amputated on June 17. And now, within the last couple of days to have her kidneys and liver shut down.
Run free, our little Miss Princess Hope. You will always remain in our hearts; we shall never forget you.

My golden, Hope, was diagnosed with fibrosarcoma of the paw three years ago. Early on, she had traditional surgery to remove the mass, but the lump always came back. We found a wonderful holistic vet who was able to use Eastern medicine to keep the tumor in check for most of those 3 years. Recently, holistic care lost out to the cancer and her leg was amputated at the shoulder on Friday.
I joined this group to learn how I can assist her through the healing process and help her maintain a good quality of life.

For the first few days following surgery, Hope was pretty high on tramadol and the patch. She seemed much better after the patch was removed, but refused to try to get up by herself. We had to use two slings to drag her outside to go potty and even then, she didn't go. She had only two bowel movements in the week and urinated only three times. She looked very depressed–like she had lost the will to try. The only thing that perked her up was food–Hope LOVES her food. Had she stopped eating, we would have been very worried. During this time, she continued to drink water.
On June 25, we took her to the surgeon and she manually expressed her bladder. It took three big, thick towels to hold it all! Immediately, Hope got up and starting walking around and had a bowel movement right in the doctor's office and then started exploring down the hall. If I had not been there, I wouldn't have believed it! It's only been one day since she started walking without any assistance, but she looks happy and she is no longer in pain from her cancer.
Another thing–her surgeon took her bandage off early. She said that some dogs really hate the bandage and to be carried around in a sling. Apparently, Hope was one of those dogs. Maybe having the bandage removed gave her some of her dignity back–you just never know how change affects our dogs.
Hope might not be running a marathon anytime soon, but we are so glad to see the progress she's made in such a short time.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your little Princess Hope, what a brave fighter she was. Two years is wonderful, I’m sure you cherished every moment of it.
It was really closer to 3 years. The time went by in a blink…
Thank you for your kind words.
I’m so sorry to read that you lost your sweet girl! She lived up to her name, Hope, fighting this disease for almost 3 years. That is definitely something to hang on to. And I’m sure she never knew anything but love.
So sorry you had to say goodbye too soon. She’s a beautiful girl. She’ll make a beautiful angel Tripawd.
Hugs,
Jackie, Abby’s mom

I am sorry for your loss, I can tell you from my heart that I know what you are going through. I didnt get a chance to ever post to any of your topics, as the first ones I ever saw were right at the time we lost Cooper. It sounds as though Hope gave a good fight, and you guys gave her a great life.

I’m truly shocked and so very saddened about Hope. I was so looking forward to many happy memories made with us also.
My deepest condolences.
Please know that we are all here for you.

I am sorry to read about Hope today. I know how hard it is to fight the original cancer demon and lose the battle to something else- it is how I lost my tri-pug Maggie.
There is nothing fair about these battles, and sometimes they seem so wildly unfair. We were just getting to know you and Hope here at Tripawds. Please stay around if you need to talk or need some shoulders to cry on- we know what you are going through.
I hope the coming weeks and months bring some peace, and that the good memories give you strength.

I’m so sorry for the awful, swift and unexpected turn of events in Hope’s life. I went through sudden kidney failure with a collie and I remember how quick it was and how awfully sick she was. I know you made the only possible decision. Hope fought a tremendous fight, and she has earned her wings for sure.

My heart goes out to you as I am greatly saddened to hear of another amazing tripawd becoming an angel. How lucky are you to have had sweet Hope for so long as she fought her battle with such grace. Although we know the day will come…we are never prepared and especially when it takes you off guard & happens so fast. We are all here for you. Many of us, myself included have just lost our loving tripawds very recent and many of us are still blessed to have them. All of us are so blessed to have had the extra time to love them with all of our hearts. Sending much love…
